Hypermetropia
Where the eye is too short for the focusing strength of the eye. The image would be focussed behind the retina (if the retina was not there). The young eye can use some of its accommodative power to bring distance objects into better focus but often there is not enough left to focus on near objects. Thus far objects are in better focus than near objects and this is why hypermetropia is known as Long sightedness.

A plus lens infront of the eye gives it the extra power needed and on a prescription is written as "+" followed by the power eg +1.25Dioptres.
