This page will give some details of the surgical procedures available for the correction of refractive errors

There are 2 main operations available routinely (c2001).

PRK - photo refractive keratotomy
LASIK

PRK was the first use of laser lathing and operates on superficial layers of the cornea. It is still used by some clinics but has been generally superceded by LASIK.

LASIK still uses a laser but the layers re-worked are much deeper into the cornea. This leads to a more stable result and less chance of scarring.
